What to Do When Your Car Won’t Start

A step-by-step guide for Tampa Bay drivers stranded with a no-start.

Turning the key and getting nothing is stressful. Here's how to stay safe and figure out what's going on.

1. Stay safe

If you're on the roadside, turn on hazards, move away from traffic if you can, and stay aware of your surroundings.

2. Listen

A rapid clicking usually means a weak battery. A single click may mean a bad starter or connection. Normal cranking with no start points to fuel or ignition issues.

3. Check the basics

Make sure the car is in park, check for loose or corroded terminals, and see if interior lights come on.

4. Call a mobile battery service

We'll jump start or replace your battery wherever you are in Hernando, Pasco, Pinellas or Hillsborough County, and test your charging system so it doesn't happen again.
