Many newer vehicles come with AGM (absorbent glass mat) batteries, and replacing them with a cheaper flooded battery can cause problems.
What is an AGM battery?
AGM batteries hold their electrolyte in fiberglass mats, making them spill-proof, vibration-resistant and better at handling deep cycling and heat.
When you need AGM
If your vehicle has automatic start-stop, lots of electronics, or originally came with AGM, you should replace it with AGM. Many vehicles also need the battery registered after replacement.
When standard is fine
Older vehicles that came with flooded batteries can usually stay with flooded, though an AGM upgrade often lasts longer in Florida heat.
